What is the benefit of managing a library online?

There are many.
Whatever your operating system is : Windows 98, XP, Linux or Mac, you can use BIBLIOBOOST.NET one browser is sufficient.
You have nothing to install on your computer. You type in the website address and there you are.
Your data is stored in a secured server made for that purpose. In case of problems on your hard drive, you won't lose any data, you won't have anything to reinstall.

Is the information stored on BIBLIOBOOST.NET visible by anyone?

No. The only persons who have reading and writing access to the data are the users holding the username and password of your school.

Can I create my own reading tests?

Yes and this is the added value of this programme. You make your own reading tests for your books. Once made, these reading tests can be taken by any students from any school owning that book.

The reading tests are therefore visible by anyone through the Internet?

No. In order to take a reading test, one needs to have access to the library page of your school. This access is possible only if the computer has been authorized to. The authorization can only be granted by a user holding the username and password of the school.

Reading test after reading a book. Aren't we losing the simple pleasure of reading? Can't students lose interest in reading because of that?

We wondered about that. That's why we offer each student the choice of doing it or not. In order to take a reading test, the student must click on the link that will take him to that test. He is doing it voluntarily. He makes the choice. In our school, some students do it automatically, others don't.
All reading tests are optional and to be considered as a complement to the book.
Anyone is free to imagine what he wants to do with the reading tests, how he wants to involve his students with the library.

It seems that a school library can be managed with this programme. How does it work, can the student manage on his own or does he need to be assisted?

Yes, the student can borrow, return, and check his account all by himself. He can also choose to take the reading test independently. The student interface is very user friendly and is used by our first graders in our school.

Are the loans limited?

Choose what best suits your library. You can define the number of books which students can borrow as well as the loans' duration.

Is it possible to make extractions for the teacher / administrator to follow his stock ?

You can check your stock, as a whole or by making selection by type,level or subject. These criteria can be combined. The list displayed can be printed out.
This consultation allows also to make modification to the data related to the books stored.
You can also consult the list of students borrowing books as well as the books loaned.

Is it possible to register a book (with a number) without having a corresponding reading test?

Of course it is. Both actions are not linked.
The procedure to register a book does not require to attach a reading test. Once the book is registered with its EAN number, if there is a reading test linked to the EAN in the base, the programme will propose this reading test to the student, whether it has been created by your school or any other one.
Conversely, if you create a reading test, you will have to mention the EAN number along with the title of the book.
Note that the user does not choose the number. The programme sends you the number that you need to stick on the book that you want to register.

Our school is a French school in Finland: most of our books are in French...

We are a French School. Although, reading tests are attached to the books by its EAN number. That means that you can create reading tests for the books you want. A reading test in English or German is perfectly acceptable.

If I register a book which is already in the base, do I have access to the book information sheet?

Yes. You launch a search using the EAN number. If the book is in the base, the fields are automatically filled.
