[operation]...some information...

This site is written in PHP and communicates with a MySql database. It is hosted by a Apache server. These pages follow the open web standards as defined by W3C. All browsers following these standards will allow a correct visualisation of the pages of this site.

The database:

The database contains several tables in which information is stored.

Some tables are common and therefore visible and modifiable by any user of the site. They are the ones bearing the lists of publishers, series. Others are visible by all but modifiable only by the webmaster. These are the ones bearing the lists of levels, subjects, categories.

All other tables are "private". It means that they are visible and modifiable only by a someone having a username and a password.

Reading test:

You can make reading test. Once created, these reading tests are stored in a table common to all schools. When a student returns a book, he can, if he wants, take a matching reading test, if it has been created previously. After correction, the score obtained by the student is stored in a "private" table of your school. You will have access to all your students' results.

When you make a reading test, you can enter as many questions as you want to (10 questions seem to be a maximum for us). For each question, you specify the number of points that you allocate. You can offer up to 5 answers to each question. For each answer, you indicate whether it is true or false (several true answers are accepted). Once the reading test is completed, it is stored. It can then be used with the matching book using the EAN number.

Register students:

When you register a student, you can specify his/her birthdate. It changes the background of the interface for the youngest students. Moreover, when a student connects on the day of his/her birthday, the programme wishes her/him a happy birthday.

Register books:

You can register books owned by your school and others lent to it. It can be very convenient for small-sized schools with very few books, or for small schools abroad.

Once the book is registered, the programme sends you back a registration number. This number must be written on a tag sticked in the book. It is a good idea to have tags of different colours for books owned and lent to the school.

Access for students:

Eventhough this is an Internet website, therefore accessible to anyone, the student interface is by default non accessible. If you want to change it, you must, from the teacher interface, allow access to the student interface from each computer separately. It is done simply by clicking on the sign "Authorize" from the control panel. The small red icon turns green and the computer can access the student interface. This authorization is valid for one year but you can also forbid the access whenever you want.

The loans:

Once your books are tagged, they become available to registered students. You need to provide the tag number as well as the origin of the book (owned or lent to the school) before borrowing a book. It stresses out the importance to have tags of different colours.
From the teacher interface, you know where the loaned books are.
